🕍 Church of the Catalans (outside visit)

One of the oldest and most fascinating buildings in Messina, showcasing a mix of Arab, Byzantine, and Norman influences.

🍧 First tasting stop: Sicilian granita with brioche

A refreshing and authentic local treat! You’ll enjoy traditional granita with a soft “brioche col tuppo” – a true Messina-style breakfast.

⛪ Piazza Duomo

The beating heart of Messina, where we’ll explore:

• The Cathedral (inside and outside)
• The Crypt, a hidden historical gem
• The Astronomical Clock Tower, which comes to life at 12:00 noon with its world-famous mechanical show – the most complex of its kind in the world!

🍙 Second tasting: Arancino

You’ll taste the legendary arancino from Messina (yes, here it’s masculine!) – crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful inside. Choose your favorite: ragù, butter, or vegetarian.

🏛 Town Hall Square & Vittorio Emanuele Theater (outside)

As we stroll through the heart of the city, we’ll admire the striking façades of City Hall and the Vittorio Emanuele Theater, both rebuilt in the 1930s in the clean, geometric lines of Italian Rationalist architecture, a style that marked the urban identity of Messina after the devastating earthquake of 1908.

⛲ Fountain of Neptune

A stunning baroque fountain overlooking the Strait of Messina – a perfect spot to end our historical walk.

🍰 Final tasting: Cannolo Siciliano

And for the grand finale: a freshly filled cannolo, crunchy and sweet, made with creamy ricotta and your choice of toppings.
